Due to a power source imbalance, the southern region of Vietnam will be at risk of power shortages from 2018 on, while thermal power projects not managed by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) are lagging behind schedule. Therefore, EVN is seeking solutions to the problem. 

A PetroVietnam (PVN) mission headed by the President Nguyen Quoc Khanh attended  Kuwait and  Japan on April 6 - 12 to promote developing petroleum cooperation projects.

Recently, in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, the first session of the Technical Working Group on Energy Market within the framework of phase 2 of the Vietnam Energy Partnership Group (VEPG).

On the afternoon of March 16, Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh chaired a working meeting with the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN) on the production and business situations of the group in 2021, the first two months of 2022 and in 2022.

On September 11-16, 2016, a Vietnam Energy Association (VEA) delegation headed by the VEA Chairman Tran Viet Ngai participated in the 13th China - ASEAN (CAEXPO 2016) Fair and the 13th Trade and Investment China – ASEAN Summit Conference (CABIS 2016) held in Nanning, the Capital City of the Choang Ethnic Minority Autonomous Area, Southern China.

On February 17 and 18, 2023, Mr. Rémy Rioux - General Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), President of the International Development Finance Club (IDFC), and President of the Summit General Finance (FICS) visited and worked in Vietnam and Electricity of Vietnam (EVN). The visit is for preparing the Summit Conference on the New Summit Global Financial Agreement to be held in June 2023 in Paris.

On July12, 2016, in Hanoi, Petrovietnam (PVN) held a conference to sum up 2016 working plan in the first 6 months and deploy it in the last 6 months. 

On the afternoon of July 27, 2018, Mr. Bounthong Chitmany - Member of Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee, General Inspector of Water Lao PDR leading a high level delegation of the Lao Government Inspectorate paid a working visit to the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN).

After ACWA Power was approved by the Government of Vietnam as the co-investor for the Nam Dinh 1, a 1200MW coal fired power plant project at Nam Dinh Province in Vietnam, on September 17,2015, Mr. Rajit Nanda, CIO of ACWA Power paid a visit to Vice Minister of MoIT, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong with the purpose of officially presenting ACWA Power to MoIT.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien - Minister of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh - Chairman of the Committee for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (the Committee) had a working meeting with the state-owned groups in the energy field as the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) and Petroleum of Vietnam (PVN).

Mr. Tran Ngoc Nguyen, General director of Binh Son Refinery company (BSR) informed: By June 10, 2016 BSR has reached a seven million safe working hour milestone without any occupational accident.
