Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) strives to develop the oil and gas industry into the country’s most important economic-technical sector by finding solutions and technologies for oil and gas exploration, exploitation, and processing.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Viet Thanh when addressing the ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days 2016 organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Hanoi said, “The EU remains Vietnam’s important partner in scientific and technological cooperation and innovation.”

The Government has issued the Decree No. 41/2016 / ND-CP on licensing foreign organizations and individuals to conduct scientific research in Vietnam's waters.

On Aug 14, in Hanoi,  Rosneft Vietnam Oil and Gas Company and University of Mine - Geology signed an agreement on finance of Rosneft Vietnam for a program of students making scientific research and a competition of designing robots for exploration and exploitation of mineral resources, with a value  of $ 35,000.

During the term 2015-2020, the Party Committee of Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (Vinacomin) has renovated and strongly promoted the scientific and technological development as application of mechanization, automation and computerization in the production and business activities. 

In May, 20th, 2015, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) had set up a conference for accepting the scientific and technological theme “Study on the establishment of the criterion set for evaluating the level of the technological innovation and modernization in the coal and solid minerals mining and processing field in Vietnam”.
