Petrovietnam attend 3rd Kuwait Oil & Gas Strategic Summit

 - At the invitation of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) CEO, Vice President Le Manh Hung and the delegation of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group attended "3rd Kuwait Oil & Gas Strategic Summit" from 13th to 14th April 2014.

This is the most important oil and gas event in Kuwait held annually by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation under the auspices of Kuwait Oil Ministry, to create opportunities, build relationships and promote dialogue between the oil and gas companies and the leading experts in the world. This is also an opportunity for the policy makers and leaders of the oil and gas industry to share experience and knowledge, at the same time propose recommendations and solutions to addressing the major challenges and help set the agenda for Kuwait strategic objectives to be implemented domestically and abroad.

Vice President Le Manh Hung delivered speech at the summit

The topic of 3rd Summit 2014 is "The Future of Kuwait in Energy World", with the participation of more than 800 leading enterprises in the oil and gas industry around the world. At the summit, Vice President Le Manh Hung delivered an important speech titled "PetroVietnam – The Partnership of your choice for Oil and Gas Industry Development”.

Petrovietnam delegation worked with KPC/KPI leaders

Earlier at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation office, Vice President Le Manh Hung and the delegation of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group had a meeting with the CEO and leaders of KPC and KPI. The companies together with PetroVietnam and Japanese partners have been investing in Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Project in Thanh Hoa province.

On this occasion, KPC and KPI leaders highly appreciated PetroVietnam’s efforts as the host country in the preparatory process for Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Project entering the important phase of construction. Also, KPC and KPI leaders confirmed the continued implementation of exploration projects offshore Vietnam as well as considered investment in a number of important projects in Vietnam such as "Crude oil reserve" and other petrochemical projects. KPC and KPI committed to provide crude oil in long term for Dung Quat Oil Refinery Plant.

On behalf of PetroVietnam, Vice President Le Manh Hung thanked KPC leaders for considering PetroVietnam as trusted and long-term partner in the Southeast Asia, appreciated KPC/KPI for their investment into Vietnam. Vice President Le Manh Hung also proposed KPC to create favorable conditions for PetroVietnam and the member units to provide in Kuwait the oil and gas services that are of PetroVietnam strengths like crude oil transportation, insurance, oil and gas manpower supply.

On the sidelines of the summit, Petrovietnam delegation visited some of KPC oil refinery plants which are under the effective operation in Kuwait.

Kuwait is situated on the NorthWest coast of Persian Gulf, with an area of 18,818 km2. Kuwait is a member of Gulf Cooperation Council(GCC), the owner of approximately 10% crude oil reserve in the world, and one of the important economic partners of Vietnam.

The investment of Kuwait into Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Project (Thanh Hoa province) is one of the typical examples of the economic cooperation between the two countries. The Project has a total investment of 9 billion USD, a capacity of about 200,000 barrels/ day (equivalent to 10 million tons/ year) with such major products as LPG, petrol Ron 92, Ron 95, jet fuel, advanced and normal diesel... Expectedly to July 2017, Nghi Son Petrochemical Refinery Plant will start its commercial operation. Kuwait contributes 35.1% of the invested capital and commits to be long-term crude oil supplier of the project.
