Korean partners support EVN to develop renewable energy

 - On March 22, 2018 in Hanoi, under the witness of Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un Gyu, the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and Korean partners as Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd; Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., Ltd and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) on the cooperation to develop the Wind Power Pilot and Offshore Energy Storage System, and the Cooperation Agreement in Power sector.

The signing ceremony was held after the talk between Vietnamese Minister of Trade and Industry Tran Tuan Anh and Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Paik Un Gyu on the occasion of his accompanying South Korean President Moon Jae-in to of visit Vietnam officially from March 22 to 24, 2018.

The two MOUs signed by EVN are among the 10 documents of Vietnamese and Korean industrial and commercial businesses signed under witness of the Ministers in this occasion:

It should be noted, over the years, Korean partners   participated in a lot of power projects and contributed significantly to the power development in Vietnam.

The participation of Korean partners in power projects invested by EVN is as follows:

Hyundai E&C was the EPC contractor for Mong Duong 1 thermal power plant (TPP) that has been put into operation since the end of 2015, Samsung C&T implemented contract on constructing and installing Trung Son hydropower plant that has been completed in 2017, Doosan, Mitsubishi (Japan), Pacific (USA) and PECC 2 (Vietnam) as the contractors are implementing  Vinh Tan 4 and Vinh Tan 4 (extension) TPP projects in accordance with the progress schedules.   

In addition, Korean partners also participates in  developing BOT/IPP projects such as: Nam Dinh 1 TPP (Taekwang), Nghi Son 2 TPP (KEPCO) and other power projects invested by TKV and PVN. EVN continues to cooperate with Korea partners to negotiate  the relevant PPAs.
