Vung Ang 3 LNG Power Center attracts the Investors

 - Recently, a consortium of 3 investors, Siemens Energy, KG Electric Power Corporation and Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 (PECC 2), has just sent a document to the Ha Tinh Provincial People's Committee to submit a Pre-Feasibility Study Report and an investment proposal for Vung Ang 3 LNG Power Center in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province.

 

According to the Pre-Feasibility Study Report, the fuel for Vung Ang 3 thermal power center project will be converted from coal to LNG and the project has a total investment of about 4.59 billion USD, with a capacity of 3.2GW and the potential to be expanded by 1.6GW.

Thus, up to this point, there have been 7 domestic and foreign investors who wanted to invest in the Vung Ang 3 LNG power center.

In this list is T&T Group which proposed investment in Vung Ang 3 LNG power center in the form of independent power producer (IPP). The total investment for this complex including the Vung Ang 3 LNG power center with a total capacity of 3,000 MW and Vung Ang 3 LNG terminal is expected to be about 3.55 billion USD. The usable area is 123.8 ha, excluding 100 ha of water surface area.

Previously, another consortium of Siemens Electric and Gas Company (Germany) and Samsung C&T Company (Samsung Korean Group) proposed to convert fuel for Vung Ang 3 thermal power center from coal to LNG. This consortium proposed to develop a LNG power project with a capacity of 1,200 – 1,500 MW and an infrastructure for LNG import port, storage depot with an investment of 1.5 – 1.8 billion US$.

Three domestic investors as Hoanh Son Group Joint Stock Company and Dong Thinh Phat Investment and Development Joint Stock Company and Tan Co Trading and Consulting Joint Stock Company under the Construction Trade Joint Stock Corporation also want to seek investment opportunities in Vung Ang 3 LNG Power Center.
