On March 21, the delegation led by Politburo member, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and representatives of ministries, central agencies and leaders of Long An province visited Long An International Port and surveyed construction location of LNG Long An I & II Power Plant.

LNG Long An I & II Power Plant will develop on an area of ​​about 90 hectares, located in Southeast Asia Industrial Service Area, under Long An International Port Project (Tan Tap Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An province) with a capital Investment about 3 billion USD, is under construction and scheduled to operate in December 2025. The project with a total capacity about 3,000 MW, including two combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants with capacity of 1,500 MW each is invested by VINACAPITAL GS ENERGY PTE.LTD.

At the survey, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highly appreciated the close coordination and cooperation between the investors, Long An localities and relevant ministries and agencies in promptly ground preparation and creating a solid foundation to start the construction process of LNG Long An I & II power plant on schedule.

Also on March 21, the Long An Provincial People's Committee awarded the decision on investment policy and granted the investment registration certificate of Long An I & II Power Plant Project to VINACAPITAL GS ENERGY PTE Company LTD. The investment in the construction and operation of LNG Long An I & II Power Plant at Long An International Port Project is an important turning point in the process of promoting the strong development of the Mekong Delta.

Long An International Port with a total length of 1,670 m is invested by Dong Tam Group, capable of receiving ships of 30,000 - 70,000. The port is in the process of both construction and exploitation. In the Port Service Complex there are two Industrial Parks including an Industrial Service area with 239 ha and Industrial Park with 396 ha.

The investor is promoting to complete the legal procedures for expanding the wharves No. 8 and 9 with a design capacity of up to 100,000 DWT. At that time, the total continuous length of the port shore will be 2,368 m with a total capacity of customs clearance goods more than 80 million tons year.

In the first 2 months of 2021, the volume of import and export goods through Long An International Port reached nearly 200,000 tons. Besides, Long An International Port has signed a cooperation agreement with the wind power projects, and officially become a strategic wind power erection center for the Southern Region.
