Powering the 500kV distribution yard at Vung Ang Power Center

The project of the 500kV distribution yard at Vung Ang Power Center plays very important role in power generation of Vung Ang Power Center with the largest in the country Power Thermal Plants as Vung Ang 1 and Vung Ang 2.

This project invested by PetroVietnam (PVN) is constructed on a nearly 12.8 ha area in Ky Loi Commune, Ky Anh District

(Ha Tinh province). It is the first “turn key” project implemented completely by Vietnamese contractors with a total investment of over VND 700billion. The electrical equipment as 500kV transformer, compensation capacitors, and telecommunication and information systems have been made by the leading  manufacturers in Vietnam power sector.

The yard was constructed and installed within the 03 months and has been checked and taken over at the time when the Vung Ang 1 Power Plant starts the test operation period and prepares the commercial operation of the first unit by July 2014.

The success of the project implementation has expressed the ability of PVN in investment and management. At the same time, the project marks a growing up of Vietnamese contractors in power sector, which had to overcome a lot of difficulties in the process of project implementation as  increasing material, equipment prices and labor cost in both domestic and international markets, that made the total project investment excessive over the estimation cost. Besides, the harsh weather also influenced a lot to the rate of progress of project implementation.
