Establishing the Technical Regulations for connecting Solar PV Systems to the National Electric Network

 - On Aug. 7th, 2014, at the office of Central Power Corporation (EVN CPC), Da Nang City was held a Signing Ceremony of MoU between the International Copper Association of Southeast Asia (ICASEA), Da Nang Centre for Energy saving and technology transfer (DECC) and EVN CPC on establishing Technical Regulations for connecting Solar PV Systems on the roof of the buildings to the National Electric Network.

Signing  Ceremony  of MoU    between  the  International  Copper Association  of  Southeast  Asia  (ICASEA)Da  Nang  Centre  for  Energy  saving  and technology  transfer    (DECC)  and  EVN  CPC on  establishing    Technical  Regulations  for connecting Solar PV Systems on the roof of the buildings to the National Electric Network.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh - Deputy General Director of EVN CPC, the regulations will provide favorable conditions for the large scale development of solar power, contribute to renewable energy efficiency use in the route of developing the smart power grid in Vietnam.

The program will be implemented on basis of the actual demand of Vietnam, in general, and of Da Nang City, in particular, on the development of Solar PV Systems installed on the roof of the buildings as offices, households, hotels... that currently haven’t been officially connected to the electric network due to lack of Connecting Regulations. With two-direction meters (Net- metering), solar PV system will export electricity into power grid when demand is lower than it’s generation. The Regulations of Connection and two-direction Meter will help solving the needs of powerful development of the solar power systems in Vietnam. These are two of the solutions proposed in the approved Project on the Solar Power Development Plan, period 2014- 2020 of Danang City.

After signing the MoU, the parties have started the Project with the aim that should be completed in the second quarter of 2015 and then submitted to the authorities for examination and approval as the Official National Technical Regulations.
