Signing the investment agreement for Nam Dinh I Thermal Power Project

- On January 18, 2016, in Hanoi, the General Department of Energy (GDE), Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) and (Saudi Arabia) Consortium signed the investment agreement for Nam Dinh 1 Build – Operate - Transfer (BOT) Thermal Power Project (TPP).

According to GDE, Nam Dinh I TPP with a 1,200 (2x600) MW design capacity has been assigned by Vietnam Government to TAEKWANG (Korea) - ACWA Power Consortium as the investor.
The project located on Nam Dinh Power Center has a total investment as over US $2 billion, uses coal of the Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industry Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin).
According to the Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Nam Dinh I TPP is an important project in Power Development Master Plan of Vietnam. With a 1,200 MW capacity, the project will take a great part in meeting electricity demand for socio-economic development of the country in coming years.
