Currently, Mao Khe mine, the coal at shallow level has been exhausted, and the company is exploiting at the levels: -150/-80; -80/-25 and from -150m to outcrop of the 10 Seam in North Wings (under the maintaining project with a capacity of 1.6 million tons /year).

So, in order to maintain the mine, Vinacomin assigned Mao Khe company to implement the project “ Mao Khe pit mining under -150m levels”.

The project with a capacity of 2 million tons per year and life time of 32 years was started on November 19, 2014.

The project is divided into 3 operating layers as: -230/-150; -315/-230 and -400/-315 with a total tunneling length of 22,004 meters and investment level of 5,800 billion VND.

Up to now, the volume of digging the two vertical wells from the level of + 26 /-400 and the preparing clear galleries at level of -230 m in northwest I and northwest II has reached over 12,000 meters.
