The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has just issued a document for agreement with the proposal of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on continuing to receive and deal with requirements about the electricity sale from the rooftop solar power projects (SPPs).

A rooftop PV system, is a photovoltaic system that has its electricity-generating solar panels mounted on the rooftop of a residential or commercial building or structure.[1] The various components of such a system include photovoltaic modules, mounting systems, cables, solar inverters and other electrical accessories.

On December 14, in Hanoi, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) signed a MOU and Agreement on cooperation in technical assistance to promote developing rooftop solar power in Vietnam.

According to the information of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), at the present the capacity of rooftop solar power projects (RSPPs) in the South accounts for over 60% the total capacity of solar power projects (SPPs) of EVN (1,142 MWp).

At the meeting on June 11, 2020 with the Power Corporations, Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan, the General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) affirmed the viewpoint of EVN as "creating condition for maximum support to encourage investors in developing rooftop solar power Systems (RSPSs)".

According to the Decision 13/2020/QD-TTg (Decision 13), dated April 6, 2020 of the Prime Minister, on the incentive mechanism for solar power development in Vietnam officially coming into effect from the May 22, 2020 instead of Decision 11/2017/QD-TTg expiring on June 30, 2019, the rooftop solar power projects in coming time expect to be developed very strongly.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) anticipated thatthe capacity of rooftop solar power will reachapproximately 2,000 MW by the end of 2020,contributing to ensuring power security.

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just issued a Document No. 3450/EVN-KD, dated July 02, 2019 for guideline to solve the problems on the rooftop solar power projects (RSPPs).

Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just sent the official document No 3832/EVN-KD, dated 23/7/2019 to the Power Corporations (PCs), Power Generation Corporations (GENCOs) and Power Generation units under EVN, to request them to speed up the developing the rooftop PV solar power projects with a goal to supplement electricity for the national power system in the current very difficult situation. 

On January 22, 2019 in Cam Tan commune, Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province, ASKA Joint Stock Company (JSC) held a ceremony for starting the project to install rooftop PV system in combination with the high tech agricultural production Aska Farm 1.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just worked with leaders of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), and a number of the relevant ministries and agencies to implement the goal in the Power Development Planning VIII (PDP VIII), which is 2030 Vietnam will have 50% of office buildings and 50% of residential houses use self-produce and self-consumption rooftop solar power projects (for on-site consumption, not selling electricity into the national electricity system).

The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has just issued the announcement No 148 EVN-KD-TCKT dated January 10, 2023, to the Electricity Corporations, Electricity Telecommunications, and Information Technology Companies about the purchase prices of the rooftop solar power projects in 2023 as follows:

In the city. Ho Chi Minh City, the Electricity of (EVN) has put into the test operation the rooftop solar power foundation EVNSOLAR to promote the rooftop solar power development in Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City Joint-Stock Commercial Development Bank (HDBank) continues to finance green credit packages worth trillions of dong for businesses, and issues credit cards for the individual and household customers installing rooftop PV systemswith many incentives.

The Decision No13/2020 / QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on mechanisms to encourage developing solar power in Vietnam (Decision 13 for short), effective from May 22, 2020 (replacing Decision 11/2017 / QD-TTg expired on June 30, 2019) made motive power for many businesses and households to complete installing the solar power systems previously connected to the national power system.
