PetroVietnam attends Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2015

 - From 3rd to 6th May 2015, PetroVietnam working group led by President Nguyen Quoc Khanh came to work in Houston, USA to attend Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2015.

OTC is the largest and most important oil and gas event held annually in Houston on the advanced technology achievements in the petroleum and energy sector. This is a forum for the managers, leaders of the oil & gas groups and companies to exchange experiences and share development trends for future oil and gas industry. This year’s event attracts more than 100,000 participants from 130 countries, more than 2,600 companies representing 37 countries and regions with 328 presentations on various topics from upstream, midstream to downstream stages.

While attending the conference, on 4th May 2015, President Nguyen Quoc Khanh was also presented at the 20th anniversary of Vietnam – US relations normalization jointly organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Houston and PetroVietnam. The event took place very successfully with the participation of Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh and more than 200 guests from the oil and gas companies operating in the US and internationally. The delegates listened to PetroVietnam President’s presentation on the potentials and major projects that Petrovietnam was calling for investment. Petrovietnam President affirmed that foreign partners including the US were always important partners of PetroVietnam, and he hoped to continue maintaining and developing cooperation with the partners in the key areas of the Group in Vietnam, the United States and the third countries.

PetroVietnam leader delivered speech at the Conference

On 5th May 2015, the Group leader chaired the Seminar on “Understanding the challenges to Vietnam in Exploring, Drilling and Producing Oil in basement rocks and lessons learned from Bach Ho field” presented by PVEP, PVD and VSP. At the seminar, PetroVietnam shared the experience to detect oil structure in granite basement rocks in Bach Ho and other oil fields of Vietnam with the technical experts from many countries around the world. This science and technology achievement has not only changed the traditional oil and gas perspective but also had decisive significance to the oil and gas exploration and production on the continental shelf of Vietnam. It has provided scientific and practical contribution to the world’s petroleum science as well as promoted the international cooperation between PetroVietnam and foreign companies for the oil and gas exploration in basement rocks in some other countries.

During the time in Houston, PetroVietnam working group came to meet and work with such major partners of the United States as ExxonMobil, Murphy Oil, Halliburton, GE, Schlumberger… to promote the cooperation projects between the parties and give orientation for strengthening the future cooperation.
