Starting up a large solar power project in Bac Lieu province

- The Department of Planning and Investment of Bac Lieu province and Korean SY Group have just signed a MOU on cooperation to develop a large solar power project with a capacity of 300 MW and an investment level of more than 10,240 billion VND (equivalent to US$ 450 million) on an area of 400 ha in Long Dien commune, Dong Hai district.
The project is divided in to the two phases with the first phase of 50 MW and the second phase of 250 MW and expected to be developed in 2017 – 2019 period.
Bac Lieu is all year round sunny province with 2900 hours of sunshine per year. The province has flat terrain and favorable climate (without the earthquake, tsunami, floods and typhoons…) for development of the renewable energy projects. Based on this advantage, Bac Lieu has placed a goal to transform the economy in direction of green and sustainable development with a priority to renewable energy projects.
