Scatec Solar proposes an investment of 1,000MW solar power on Tri An lake - 

On August 15, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung received Mr. Raymond Carlsen, General Director of Scatec Solar Company (Norway). Scatec Solar proposed an investment in the Tri An floating solar power plant project, with a capacity of 1,000 MW.

Tri An floating solar power plant project is expected to be built in La Nga and Thanh Son communes, Dinh Quan district, Dong Nai province.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung affirmed that, the relationship between Vietnam and Norway is developing well in many fields, especially economic, trade and investment.

Thanks to the Deputy Prime Minister for receiving, Norway General Director Raymond Carlsen said: Scatec Solar has experiences in assisting developing countries on renewable energy projects, this is an advantage if the Scatec Solar has chances to invest in Vietnam.

For Tri An floating solar power project, Scatec Solar will develop a floating solar panel system, this is a technology product serve for export of Vietnam in the future. Besides, the Scatec Solar is promoting and connecting with universities in Vietnam to helping students to practice and learn about technology in the factory.

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung affirmed that, the Government of Vietnam always encourages the development of renewable energy and promotes the effective use of renewable energy sources in the country, improves the structure of power sources, alleviates climate changes, environmental protection, sustainable socio - economic development.

Vietnam has a high demand for energy use, especially renewable energy for economic development and consumer protection. According to calculations, it is expected to need 90,000 MW by 2025 and about 130,000 MW by 2030.

At currently, Vietnam has more than 300 investment projects on wind and solar power which are awaiting for approval. Therefore, need to select investment projects in accordance with the development planning in order to ensure the rational electricity production structure, meeting the demand for electricity as well as load problems, etc.
