There will be no places for the energy equipment with the low efficiency in Vietnam

According to the Decision, as from July 10, 2018, no license is granted to import and produce energy equipment that does not meet the minimum energy efficiency standards set by the National Standard (TCVN): fluorescence standard TCVN 7896-2008, straight tube fluorescent lamp TCVN 8249-2009; refrigerator, freezer TCVN 7828-02013, air conditioner TCVN 7830 - 2015; household washer TCVN 8526-2010; televisor TCVN 9536-2012; rice cooker TCVN 8252-2009; computer screen TCVN 9508-2012, distribution transformer TCVN 8525- 2010, etc.

On the other hand, the Government does not allow to import, produce and trade energy equipment with an efficiency that does not meet the minimum energy efficiency level setting in TCVN after two years from July 10, 2018 for  such as: compact fluorescent lamp TCVN 7896 – 2015, straight tube fluorescent lamp TCVN 8249 - 2013; refrigerator, freezer TCVN 7828- 2013, air conditioner TCVN 7830 – 2015, televisor TCVN 9536 – 2012, household washer TCVN 8526 – 2013, rice cooker TCVN 8252 - 2015; computer screen TCVN 9508:-2012, three-phase asynchronous squirrel cage motor TCVN 7540-1 – 2013…

Especially, from July 10, 2018, it would not allowed to develop the new coal and gas fired power plants with the backward technology that have the efficiency at the time of beginning commercial operation is lower than the specified efficiency corresponding to each power range of the unit as prescribed. At the same time, it would be also not allowed: to import the old, backward equipment for the power projects with the capacity outside the specified capacity range, and to approve the policy for investment in coal, gas-fired power plants with efficiency lower than the specified efficiency corresponding to the capacity range of the unit setting as prescribed.
