Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai chaired a meeting in Ha Noi on April 17 with relevant agencies to discuss two schemes on the strategy and master plan to develop the country’s industry to 2020 with a vision to 2035.
He asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to work on contents and regulations of the two schemes, which are deemed to serve as an important basis for industrial development in a right direction.
At the meeting, delegates discussed major issues in devising the two schemes, analysed the situation and considered ideas about the development of each industry and industry groups.
The draft schemes have set general targets for the country’s industry through promoting existing advantages, actively creating domestic advantages and international opportunities and deeply participating in the international industrial production network.
The strategy include prioritized targets, from adjusting the growth model to developing prioritized industries and products, including mechanics, metallurgy, chemicals, agricultural and forestry product and seafood processing, textile, footwear, electronics, IT, energy and support industry.
The schemes also consist of adjustments in the industry space allocation, short- and long-term solutions for institutional improvement, development of industrial service system, market development and policies to attract investment in industrial zones.
