National Science and Technology Week inaugurated

National Science and Technology Week inaugurated - 

The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Da Nang People’s Committee together launched a National Science and Technology Week on May 8 at the Da Nang University of Technology on the occasion of the Science and Technology Day (May 18).

The week is scheduled for wrapping up on May 18 under the theme, “Science and Technology: An Engine for Rapid and Sustainable Development”.

A series of events would take place during the week including giving Ta Quang Buu Awards, meeting 300 outstanding scientists, showing pictures about science and technology achievements, and organizing symposiums and seminars among leading scientists and students.

In response to the Science and Technology Day, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Vietnam National University, institutes and universities would organize creativity contests, science and technology awards, exhibitions and meetings between scientists.

A variety of events would be held across the country such as a Creative Youth and Science and Technology Forum, encouraging students to involve in scientific research, and honoring individuals and teams which have made tremendous contributions to science and technology research and development.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Dr Tran Quoc Khanh said that the Science and Technology Day was to honor scientists and technologists, provide updates on science and technology policies, present science and technology progress in Vietnam and abroad, and improving people’s understanding of the role of science and technology in national development.
