 - September 23th, 2013, Dung Quat, Quang Ngai, Vietnam: After eleven months since securing the order on September 10th 2012 Doosan Vina announced the second shipment in the contract for two 800 MW super-critical coal-fired boilers to Kudgi Power Plant in Southwest India.

September 23th, 2013, Dung Quat, Quang Ngai, Vietnam: After eleven months since securing the order on September 10th 2012 Doosan Vina announced the second shipment in the contract for two 800 MW super-critical coal-fired boilers to Kudgi Power Plant in Southwest India.

The shipment on September 20th included nearly 2,000 tons of boiler equipment which once assembled on site in India for the two 800 MW Supercritical Once-Thru boilers.

This is historic as it is the very first boiler of the type to be manufactured in Vietnam and an example of Vietnam's growing industrialization and technology.

The Kudgi “Supercritical Once-Thru boilers” will deliver 2,550 tons of high pressure steam per hour and operate under extreme temperatures & pressures. With temperatures reaching 569 degrees Celsius and attaining pressure levels of 271 kilograms per square centimeter, these boilers can only be manufactured by a few companies and only under the most stringent conditions.

The project required five shipments in total and the company has made up two of them with total over 5,000 tons of coil, panel, header and link sent successfully.

Song Chi Wook, Director of the Boiler shop said: “We have been working on the project since September 2012 and everything is under control, including the design, technology application and quality matters have all been implemented perfectly by the 325 members of the boiler team.” Song went on to say, “We are happy to see our Vietnamese staff grasping ever more challenging projects and improving their skills in the building and manufacturing of power plant projects”.

In Vietnam, Doosan Vina’s Boiler shop has manufactured two 600MW boilers for the Mong Duong II power plant. Other boilers that bear the “Made in Vietnam” label and are now working in: Brazil (360MW x 4units), Saudi Arabia (275MWx2units), India (600MWx2) and Egypt (650MWx2units). These projects demonstrate to the world that Vietnam is a member of an exclusive club of nations that can produce these highly engineered and technologically advanced products.
