Can Tho Waste- to –Energy plant is in test operation

Can Tho Waste- to –Energy plant processes average daily domestic waste amount of 400 tons and generates electricity of 150,000 kWh (60 million kWh per year).
The plant with an investment level of 1,050 billion VND (US$ 47 million) is developed on an area of 5.3 ha in Truong Xuan commune, Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city. The plant can achieve a maximal capacity of 500 tons of domestic per day accounted for nearly 77% of the amount collected per day in Can Tho city (around 650 tons).
In order to obtain the enough waste amount for the plant, Can Tho city administration has implemented a pilot plan to collect and classify the waste in Tra Noc, Binh Thuy District; Le Binh Ward, Cai Rang District; and the whole area of Ninh Kieu district from September, 2018 to March, 2019; and then expanded to the other districts.
It is expected, after a month test operation, the plant will be put into official operation in November 15, 2018.
