The General secretary: Vietnam-Russia energy cooperation potential is still very large

 - At the invitation of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation from 5 to 8 September.

Replying the interview of the Russian Federation TASS before the visit, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said” Vietnam-Russia energy cooperation potential is still very large”. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasized: the typical example of Vietnam-Russia energy cooperation is the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, a project funded by the Soviet Union that has brought  high economic efficiency and energy security to Vietnam in the development process.

Besides, Vietnamese-Russian joint ventures in the petroleum sector as Vietsovpetro, Rusvietpetro, Gazpromviet, Vietgazprom... symbolize the cooperation between the two countries in the new era and bring very positive economic efficiency for both Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

Today Vietnam is in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country, the demand for investment, construction and development of infrastructure, energy and electricity is very high.

The Party and State of Vietnam always welcome and create favorable conditions for enterprises of the Russian Federation to participate in the projects for modernizing   power plants built by the former Soviet Union, as well as the new energy projects. This comes from the experience of long-term cooperation with the Russian Federation due to Russia to have the high level of technique and technology, and to be a reliable partner of Vietnam.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong considered the cooperation in petroleum sector one of the long-term strategic cooperation on both political and economic aspects and petroleum industry has become a key economic sector in Vietnam.

Regarding nuclear energy, General Secretary emphasized the cooperation to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes. The former Soviet Union and the Russian Federation have trained many Vietnamese scientists and experts in this field. The two countries agreed to build the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology in Vietnam. This is a very important project for both countries to promote the research and development of national nuclear scientific and technologic potential, train high-level officials, expand and speed up applying the atomic energy into socio-economic and scientific-technological fields.
