Toshiba supplies turbine and generator for Duyen Hai 3 Extending Power  Thermal Plant (TPP) - 

Toshiba Corporation (Japan) has won a contract for supplying the supercritical steam turbine and electric generator capacity of 688 MW for the Extending Duyen Hai 3 TPP.

This is an equipment supply contractor was signed between Toshiba and Sumitomo (Japan) – the EPC Contractor of Extending Duyen Hai 3 TPP project.

The price of the contractor package is not published, but it is the latest project Toshiba has won in Vietnam. This key equipment system expects to be completed by 2016 and the TPP project will be put into operation by 2018.

The Duyen Hai 3 TPP is located in Tra Vinh province. The extending project includes power plant with a 688 MW unit and Harbor No. 2 for coal and oil reception.

The total investment of the project is over US$1.8 billion (equivalent to about VND 22,800 billion). The EPC contract including taxes and unforeseen costs values more than US$ 890 million, 85% of which is foreign commercial loan and 15% is counterpart capital of the project investor.

The project was started at the end of 2014, and planned to be put into commercial operation in 2018. With an about 4 billion kWh per year generation the project expects to take an important part to ensure power supply for the Southern region area and reduce the dependence of the power system on hydropower plants.
