The Prime Minister directs to continuously review hydropower development planning in Highland

- The Prime Minister (PM) assigned Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to review hydropower development planning in Highland in accordance with his requirements in the Message No 391/CĐ – TTg dated 16/3/2017 and in other localities in accordance with the requirements of the National Assembly (NA) in the Resolution No 62/2013/QH13 dated 16/3/2017 on strengthening the management of planning, construction investment, exploitation and operation of hydropower projects to report to PM for assessment and report to NA.

PM also assigned the Ministry of National Resources and Environment (MNRE) and MOIT within the scope of their competence to continuously review, direct the perfection of the operation procedures of reservoirs and inter-reservoirs to guarantee effective use water resource for power generation, water balance, maintaining minimal water flow, meeting water demand on lowlands in dry season, cutting and reducing flood and limiting negative impacts in flood season.

PM asks People’s Committee of Highland provinces to suspend construction investment license for the hydropower projects that use natural forest land or have negative impacts on the ecological environment in the area and to report to PM matters beyond their competence.
