Powering 500 kV Chon Thanh Transformer Substation Project -

At 6:55 am on September 2, 2020, at 500 kV Chon Thanh Transformer Substation, the Central Power Project Management Board (CPMB) in cooperation with other organizations powered and put 500 kV Chon Thanh transformer substation project into operation.

The 500 kV Chon Thanh transformer substation project occupies an area of 18.5 ha in the Second hamlet, Minh Thanh commune, Chon Thanh district, Binh Phuoc province and its technical design approved by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT).

The general view of 500 kV Chon Thanh transformer substation

The 500 kV Chon Thanh transformer substation project include 01 transformer AT1 with a capacity of 900 MVA, voltage of 500/220/35 kV, 01 transformer with a capacity 250 MVA, voltage of 220/110/22 kV, 07 feeders connected by 2/3 scheme on 500 kV side, and 10 feeders connected by 2 bus bar system with a loop one scheme on 220 kV side, 8 feeders connected by 2 bus bar system with a loop one scheme by 110 kV side, 500 kV series capacitors and shunt reactors transferred from 500 kV Pleiku2-Cau Bong and 500 kV Cau Bong substation.

The 500 kV Chon Thanh Substation has an important role to meet the developing power demand in Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong provinces neighboring locations, strengthen interconnection, improve stability, reliability of the transmission grid in Southeast region, as well as decrease electricity losses and decrease loads for a number of power transmission lines and 220 kV transformers existing in the area.
