Over VND2.6 trillion invested in Southern power projects

 - The Southern Power Corporation under Electricity of Vietnam (EVN SPC), commenced the construction of 26 power works and put into operation 19 110kV-transmission lines in the first half of this year, with a total investment of VND2.63 trillion (US$115.72 million), reaching 32.4% of their target.

The EVN SPC has put into operation 25km of new power lines and 43km of upgraded lines with a total supplemented capacity of 870MVA.

Nguyen Phuoc Duc, Deputy General Director of EVN SPC, said that the power projects have helped to meet the electricity demand for economic development throughout 21 provinces in the South, particularly in the key economic areas of Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc and Long An.

Furthermore, as of June 20, branches of EVN SPC have repaired 613 large power works (262 works completed) with a total cost of VND501 billion (US$22.04 million), equivalent to 62% of their plan.

Duc noted that the investment in building and repairing large power works has contributed to improving the quality of electricity, whilst ensuring a stable supply of electricity for customers in the South.

EVN SPC also plans to invest VND5 trillion (US$220 million) in ensuring electricity supply for shrimp farming areas in Vietnam, as directed by the Government.

Duc added that the power corporation is also scheduled to start the construction of the 220kV Kien Binh - Phu Quoc transmission line in early December of this year.
