Over 99% communes in the country have national electricity network

Over 99% communes in the country have national electricity network - 

According to Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), up to now, 99.51% (11, 078/11,132) communes in the country have national electricity network.

EVN informed, the Rural 2 Energy Project with a $130 million loan from World Bank has been completed at a rate of 100% amount before the date of closing the Project Agreement on June 30, 2014. The project has settled supply by national electricity network for 2,014 communes of 25 provinces in the country.

The Project "Improving and expanding the electricity network in remote areas," by an ADB loan was completed at a rate of 97% amount. This project has settled to supply electricity for nearly 56,000 households in four provinces as Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Tra Vinh and Soc Trang. It is expected to supply electricity for over 36,000 households more at the end of Quarter 4, 2014.

The project "Improving energy efficiency in rural areas" with an EURO 120 million loan from German Reconstruction Bank (KfW) has been completed at a rate of 99% amount and disbursed at a rate of nearly 60% budget. The project expects to be fully complete at the end of 2014.

Regarding the Distribution Efficiency Project (DEP) with an USD 488.9 million loan from World Bank (WB), it has started 97/141 subprojects and implemented a rate of 47% amount with 24/97 subprojects powered and about USD121.7/488.9 million disbursed.

The Project "Electricity supply by the national network for people of ethnic minorities in Son La province" with a VND 577 billion state budget total investment has been completed at a rate of nearly 92% amount of phase 2 with over 9,600 households powered. It is expected to complete 100% amount of phase 2 of the project by the end of 2014.

It is especially to remark that on Sept. 28, 2014, a 22kV Submarine Cable Project supplying electricity for 5,000 households of Ly Son island district (Quang Ngai province) has been successfully completed earlier than planned schedule.

Thus, there 100% districts, 99.51% (11,078/11,132) communes and 98.44 (24,373/24,760) households in the country have been powered, so far.
