Vinacomin seeks for importing coal directly from the United States - 

According to information from Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin): on August 1, 2019, in Hanoi,  took place a working meeting between leaderships of Vinacomin and Xcoal (USA) to specifically discuss about  the prospects of coal import directly from the US to Vietnam and promoting cooperation between Vinacomin and US businesses.

Vinacomin and Xcoal exchange opinions on cooperation to import coal from USA to Vietnam

At the meeting, Mr. Dang Thanh Hai generally introduced about the production and business fields of Vinacomin as one of the three key groups (EVN, PVN and Vinacomin) with a role of ensuring national energy security in Vietnam. At the present, Vinacomin produces coal of over 40 million tons per year, it also produces minerals, electricity and industrial explosive materials with a strong growth rate in recent years.

Regarding Xcoal, Mr. Earnie Thraser, the General Director also informed about the potential of the Group and emphasized Xcoal as a prestigious global coal supply and investment group of the United States. Xcoal has the head-quarter in Pennsylvania - USA and 20 branches in 20 countries around the world.

Currently, Xcoal supplies 14% of imported coal in India, 22% of imported coal in Japan, 21% of imported in Europe, 14% of imported coal in China, and many other countries.

Based on discussions at the meeting, both Vinacomin and Xcoal realized a lot of prospects for their cooperation, and in coming time, Xcoal will focus on promoting to supply the suitable coal from the United States to Vietnam.
