According information of Vietnam News Agency, on April 27, at the headquarter of Lao Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), Representative of the Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) and Mr. Pham Ngoc Long - Director of the Long Van Limited Company of Vietnam signed a contract for the search, exploration and exploitation of coal in Sam Nuea district, Houaphanh province.
Mr. Sisou Phanthong SAccording, Deputy Minister of Lao MPI, Mr. Khampha Phommakaysone, Director of Geology Department, Lao Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental, Mr. Hoang Xuan Hai Charge d’affaires of Vietnam Embassy in Vientiane and the representatives of concerned ministries and agencies of Laos and Vietnam attended the signing Ceremony.
With an initial exploratory survey on a 600 ha among the 15,000 ha total area, Long Van Company has identified a coal reserves of about 60 million tons.
The project deployment would contribute to socio - economic development plan of Houaphanh province particularly, Lao PDR generally and as well as creating jobs, improving living standards for people in the project locality.
