The Government Office has just announced the suggestion of the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Trinh Dinh Dung on solving difficulties for Vietnam National Coal - Minerals Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin).
DPM Trinh Dinh Dung assigned Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in coordination with the Ministries of Finance, Natural Resources and Environment, Planning and Investment and relevant agencies to consider and propose solutions to solve difficulties for Vinacomin.
DPM asked to specially pay attention to: policies on taxes (tax rates, Royalties charge and coal import tax) relating coal industry in this difficult period it to ensure competitiveness, maintain market and production capacity; measures of restructuring Vinacomin to improve its business and production efficiency and competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
Regarding the coal market, DPM assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) in collaboration with the Ministries of Finance, Natural Resources and Environment, Planning and Investment to propose coal export mechanism in 2016-2020 period for Vinacoalmin to actively manage production, stabilize jobs for laborers to promote production and business efficiency, as well as to encourage customers to use domestic coal for reducing inventory level, effectively utilizing national resources, stabilizing jobs and social welfare in areas.
DPM asked coal fired thermal power plants to strictly carry out coal purchase in accordance with the plan assigned by MoIT including the additional amount, and Prime Minister Directions No.21/CT-TTg dated on 08/26/2015 on strengthening the State management for coal trading activities.
