Signing MOU on investment in Son My 1 BOT Thermal Power Project

 - On the official visit to Vietnam of French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe (from 2-4 November, 2018), Vietnam and France sides held the signing ceremony of the Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) on cooperation and agreements between the two countries and their businesses to promote consolidation in many areas.

At the signing ceremony, under the witness of the two Prime Ministers, the leaders of the ministries and agencies, Mr. Phuong Hoang Kim, the Director of Power and Renewable Energy Department representative of Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) of Vietnam  and Vice President of Electricity of France (EDF), representative of consortium of investors of Son My 1 BOT Thermal Power Project

(TPP) signed a MOU on establishing Feasibility Study Repot for this project.

Son My 1 BOT Thermal Power Project including 03 units with a total capacity of 2000 MW expected to be put into commercial operation in 2027 is one of the Son My Thermal Power Complex (Son My TPPs 1,2,3) with a total capacity of 4000 MW developed in Son My Oil & Gas Services Complex in Son My commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province.

Son My 1 Thermal Power Project with technology of Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) consumes about 0.57 million tons of liquid national gas (LNG) per year.

EDF is currently a partner in the consortium of Son My 1 TPP that includes EDF, Sojitz and Pacific Company.

Today, EDF is one of the largest power generators in the world. EDF owns and operates a diverse range of power plants as nuclear, coal, gas, renewable energy with a total capacity of 120 GW, of which gas/LNG power plant capacity is about 8.6%.
